The hearth of a doll

VERONICA TULLI, aka LULU RIMMEL, is an exceptional performer: she's very small but when she sings her voice never goes unnoticed. Her disease, the so called "brittle bone syndrome", is not an obstacle for her, though: playing with her own special qualities, she performs as a singing doll on the stage. She has turned her disability into just another minor glitch in life.

With his lopsided face and gruff demeanour, Abel Ferrara looks and behaves as though he were born in Naples, Italy – the subject and setting of his raw, hyper-realist film *Napoli Napoli Napoli*. Inspired by real events, this docudrama, narrated by the director, portrays a young woman named Lucia, metaphysically lost in the passionate and lively streets of Naples. Meanwhile, two local men, Sebastiano and Ciccio, are sent to kill their accomplice Carmine for being disloyal to their business. The drama is interwoven with interviews with local residents and inmates from a men’s and women’s prison, who describe in detail their lives in the city of Naples, ravaged by poverty and crime.
